Australia 2016 Fair Dinkum Aussie Alphabet 2

In this second installment of Fair Dinkum Aussie Alphabet, released on 16 August 2016, containing 5 stamps, of interesting are 2 of them, representing A and R. In A, where Aaron the angry Aussie Rules aficionado is anxious that acclaimed Adelaide achieves its ambition, and Aussie Rules Football is played with an oval ball. In R, the rapacious Rebecca regards her rusty refrigerator replete with relics robbed from her rich relatives, and one of the relics is a rugby ball!
These stamps are released both in gummed-back and self-adhesive versions. The self-adhesive versions are released as stamp booklets of 10 stamps of the same design.

Australia 2012 Oval Ball Legends

The first stamps for 2012 featuring oval ball appeared in Australia, on 22 January. The issue on Australian Legends for 2012 has 8 stamps, but only these 6 were for oval ball sports - aussie rules football, rugby league and rugby union. Ron Barassi and Gary Ablett Jr for aussie rules football; John Raper and Billy Slater for rugby league; and the duo of David Campese and David Pocock for rugby union. Booklets with self-adhesive versions of the stamps were also released.

For the country's Stamp Collecting Month, Australia issued on 6 October a set of 6 stamps featuring ball sports, amongst them is the Aussie Rules Football, played with an oval ball in an oval field!
